Welcome to Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital
The establishment of a regional referral hospital in this part of rural Liberia was conceived by President William R. Tolbert, Jr. in the 1970’s. The first hospital was built by the Samuel K. Doe government, but was not open to the public when the Civil War destroyed it.
While campaigning for the 2005 presidential elections, former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf promised the people of Tappita that she would renovate the damaged hospital.
The present elegant hospital was built by the Government of the People’s Republic of China as a gift to the Liberian people, through bilateral cooperation with the Sirleaf Administration.
